Thanks to the gracious lady behind the front counter at Thunderbird Jewelry Supply yesterday, we found our new favorite place for Navajo Fry Bread. Best (and biggest!) puffiest, tenderest fry bread we've had in 30 years and half a dozen states. The Navajo Taco with perfectly cooked pinto beans, cheese, finely chopped onion, and crisp lettuce was delicious (I asked for no tomato). We also really enjoyed the Green Chile Posole, a stew of lamb, hominy, and Hatch green chile, which had a good level of heat (spice) and came with its own fry bread round, again, very large, with enough left over to eat with honey. Prices are reasonable (for example, for just $1.85, you get whole fresh-roasted Hatch chile to add to your meal) and service attentive, friendly, and efficient. The dining room was clean and prettily painted with Southwest symbols. We route our road trips through Gallup whenever possible, mainly because we love to eat here and always have a very good to excellent experience. Diné Grill (Native Grill & Meats) carries on a fine tradition.
Stopped by on a road trip because we'd never tried fry bread before. The staff were very friendly and gave us some recommendations of what to try. The frybread, lamb, and blackened peppers were amazing! I'm normally not a cooked pepper fan but theirs were the perfect texture- I may have to drive all the way from Minnesota to try this place again!
Fry bread was bigger than my head. Chili beans were tasty. Coffee was almost homemade. Service was excellent!
This is actually one of the best places to eat if you want to try real food from New Mexico , it gives me all my memories from eating at my grandparents house when I was young even the music is the same
Great experience every time! We are out of town and enjoy eating here. We always look forward to their food they serve and it is an variety and worth it!
Stopped while passing thru. Fry bread as big as your head :). Tasty. Good stop
I definitely would recommend this restaurant. The fry bread is so fantastic, crispy, and fresh. If I didn't live 4 hours away, I'd be coming in all the time. The food was great. Customer was welcoming. It was clean and busy.
